BALCONY MAKEOVER REVEAL

I’m so excited to finally share details of my little balcony makeover!  It was time for me to really make use of my outdoor space since I’ve been spending a lot more time at home during this pandemic.

Living in a condo comes with small territory and can make it difficult to find stylish furniture that fits. In the past, I would opt for the easy standard bistro set, but this time around I wanted to transform my space into something more cozy and comfortable.  I wanted a mini oasis where I could do work outside but also have a place to lounge around on the weekends.

I was fortunate enough to team up with The Staging Room and they helped me with the layout, furniture and decor options for my balcony. They provided me with an e-design package with a clickable shopping list and budget. They really helped me to bring my vision to life and sourced out some really great pieces to choose from. You can learn more about their services here. This is an example of one of the 5 e-designs they sent me.

Furniture

I ended up going with Option 3 because I loved the piece of furniture! Unfortunately at the time, I waited a little too long to order it online and it sold out. It’s now on back order until September. I made the decision to part ways with it, (I was totally heart broken. LOL!) and go with something I could get right away; that way I could enjoy it for at least the last half of the summer.

I was walking through The Hudson Bay and randomly stumbled across this sofa. It was the perfect size and although at the time it wasn’t exactly what I was envisioning, I took the chance and purchased it. I actually love it so much now! With the size, I can play around with the layout too. When it’s up against my railing, I can have more room for extra chairs if people visit and when I’m alone, the sofa works up against the wall.

The ASHFORD sofa by Distinctly Home is currently available in-stores only. It’s on mega sale right now, so I would hurry to The Bay if you want it!

Side Table

I went with the matching ASHFORD C Table by Distinctly Home for my side table. I like it more for it’s practicality than for its looks. It can be conveniently tucked under the sofa, which is great for when I want to take my laptop outside and do some work. I also love the price tag on it… It’s on sale! Click here to purchase.

Area Rug

I love the rug that The Staging Room picked out for me. It gives my space a pop of colour and if you didn’t know already, I have a thing for pink! I purchased the 3 x 5 and it fits perfectly. The only negative I have is I don’t think the material is the best option for outdoors. It takes a bit of time for it to dry after it rains. On the website, it did say it was an outdoor rug when I purchased it at the time, but now “outdoors” has been removed, so now I’m thinking this wasn’t the greatest option, but I’m going to stick with it for now. Purchase rug here.

Plants & Planters

I love adding greenery to a space. It really brings it to life and gives me a sense of relaxation. I got so many inquires about the white planter & stand, and faux rubber tree when I posted it on my Instagram stories! They are both from Structube and actually Structube has so many great options for faux plants and planters. I was so impressed with their selection and their price points.

Faux Rubber Plant – purchase here. A good size height for a tree/plant for a condo balcony is around 130cm for reference.

White Planter with Stand – purchase here. This product comes in three different sizes and I purchased the smallest one (46 cm). It fits the rubber plant from Structure perfectly.

Black Bamboo Lantern – click here. This one comes in two sizes. I purchased the medium size one (11″x12″)

Snake Plant is from Sheridan Nurseries .

The Black Pattern Planter is from Homesense, so unfortunately I can’t link it. It was such a great find!

Accessories

I didn’t need many accessories for this space. I added a citronella candle (from Dollarama), one decor pillow and a throw to keep me warm on cooler nights. I chose a pink throw to help tie in the pink area rug. The throw is from Bouclair and available in-store only. The decor pillow is from Homesense. I always check Homesense and Winners first for decor before anywhere else because they have such cute stuff and very affordable. Some days you get luckier than others though. I seem to have the best luck at the Homesense at Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga.

I also found this cute bamboo tray at Homesense. It fits well with the rest of my decor and it’s great to have an extra flat surface for when I’m entertaining or when my side table is being occupied by my laptop.

Lastly, my string lights are from The Superstore! It was an unexpected find while going grocery shopping, but snagged them for only $29!!! To hang them, I used the Command Light Strip and Clips which was recommend by The Staging Room and so far holding up really well. It was so easy and fast to hang too! I purchased mine off of Amazon. Make sure to get the outdoor ones. Purchase them here.

I’m so happy with how it all came together. I managed to purchase everything for a total of $620! Way under my original budget!!! It was well worth the investment. I have been spending all my time out on my balcony now and enjoying the weather. I can’t get enough of it!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your summer!
