DIY POM PILLOW: TURN YOUR T-SHIRT INTO A DECOR PILLOW

Turn your old T-shirts into a decor pillow. It’s simple and fun. My kind of DIY! 😉. You don’t even need a pom maker or a sewing machine. A hot glue gun will do the trick!

Here’s what you need:

  • Large size T-shirt
  • Yarn
  • Small piece is cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Stuffing or an old pillow

Instructions:

Cut two doughnut shapes out of your cardboard. You will use these to help make your pom-poms. They should be identical in size. The diameter should be the size of how big you want your pom-poms to be.

Wrap the yarn around the whole doughnut. (Fully cover it). It doesn’t have to be perfect and can overlap a little. When finished, cut off the rest of the yarn.

Stick the sharp part of the scissors in to the middle of where the two doughnuts are stacked together. Cut all the way around.

Take a small piece of yarn and tie it around the middle in between the two pieces of cardboard doughnuts. Make a tight knot. Carefully slide off the cardboard doughnuts. Trim the edges so they are all even. Repeat the whole process to make as many as you’d like for your pillow. I made nine!

Now for the pillow part:

I used another pillow case to measure how big I wanted my pillow case to be. You can make your own measurements or even free-hand it. Just keep in mind what you’ll be stuffing your pillow with.

Cut out your squares. Make sure to leave about an inch and a half room on each side. Glue the front and back together on all three sides to form your pillow case. Make sure to leave the one side open to put in your stuffing!

Hot glue your pom poms on. I randomly placed mine.

Stuff your pillow case. I used an old pillow. You could also use stuffing, old clothes, fabric or purchase a pillow insert. Lots of options!

Lastly, hot glue it shut, by folding in the ends.
