THE BEST HOMEMADE TACO/FAJITA SEASONING

Tacos are my absolute favourite and since Cinco de Mayo is just around the corner, I want to share the best homemade taco seasoning recipe. I love how easy tacos are to whip up during the weekday; slice up some veggies, cook the minced meat and add the seasoning and you’re done dinner in less than 20 minutes. I recommend always making the seasoning because you know exactly what’s going into it. The store bought taco packages contain a lot of unnecessary additives, way too much salt and could even contain MSG. No Thanks!

This a healthy recipe that I use time and time again. It’s not only good for tacos, but for fajitas and really any Mexican dish. I like to make bigger batches of it to have on hand since I use it often. Store it in an airtight container and leave it in a cool dry place.

RECIPE:

  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 1 ½ tsp ground cumin
  • ¼ tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Combine all the ingredients together.  (I use one recipe for a pound of store bought ground turkey.)  Double or triple recipe and store it in an airtight container.

Tip: When adding the seasoning to the meat, add a half-cup of water to keep the meat moist.
