TRENDING FOOD PLACES IN MISSISSAUGA

This post is dedicated to all my fellow foodies that live in Mississauga!  I love Toronto for all the diverse choices of delicious restaurants and food trucks, but lately Mississauga has been stepping up their game.  Why drive and wait in a long line to try something we can get here, that is equally good or even better!  These are my top 5 trending places to get food of summer 2016.  They won’t disappoint!

1.   CORNER   This is by far my favourite pick!  I’m obsessing over this place.  First, may I just mention that their interior design is so on point!  The chandeliers are to die for and the rustic chairs and black framed windows… (in la-la-land right now).  Anyway, back to the good part; their FOOD!  I love the menu and they have so many great options; from all-day breakfast to home made bakery to sandwiches, salads and a make-it-yourself thai bowl selection.  Yummy!   But my TOP PICK from this restaurant are the oh so famous sushi burritos!  They are absolutely delicious!  My favourite is the “Rising Sun”.  Go try it!

2.   EL JEFE   This restaurant has by far the best patio in the area. The bright and fun decor makes it a great summer hang out even for just some drinks and guacamole.  And who doesn’t love Mexican food?!  A great feature they have on the menu is a Pick 3 option, where you can choose any 3 tacos from the menu for only $12! My TOP PICK from this restaurant is the Calamar Baja taco with the Casa Margarita.

3.   DOOR FIFTY FIVE   This restaurant/bar isn’t new to the Mississauga food scene, but still very popular especially this summer with their decent size patio. They offer the best southern BBQ menu and it’s also the first whiskey and bourbon bar in the area with a 1920s Prohibition Era atmosphere.  My TOP PICK from this restaurant is the Beef Brisket!  So juicy and melts in your mouth.  TIP:  Ask your server if you can get the beef brisket on their homemade bun and eat it like a burger!

4.   DADDY O DOUGHTNUTS   Onto dessert!  This cute little shop is a hidden gem I discovered recently.  The location isn’t the greatest, but when you step foot into the little store, you instantly get transported to the 50’s with a fun retro feel.  The pastel coloured bistro chairs, checkered flooring and girly decor gets you into the mood to splurge.  Their gourmet doughnuts are all handmade with clever names for their delicious flavours. My TOP PICKS are “Homer Simpson” & “He Shoots! He Skors!”  TIP: If you’re looking for a certain flavour call or check their Facebook page before going.  They change their menu daily.

5.   WOW WOW YUM YUM   If you’re into the huge ice cream trend this summer, this place is for you!  This Thailand street food craze has finally made it’s way over to Canada, serving the famous Thai ice cream rolls.  The ice cream rolls are creamy and full of flavour and are all made fresh from scratch right in front of your eyes.  Other popular items on the menu are the bubble waffles and waffle dogs which are also homemade at the shop.  There are 24 different flavours, but if you’re the adventurist type you can create your own custom flavour.  My TOP picks are any of the fruit flavoured rolls.  You can’t go wrong with real chunks of fruit in your ice cream…   It was definitely a Yum Yum for me! 😉  TIP:  Go during a week day to avoid the long lines.
