WINTER WONDERLAND

I’ve been slacking a bit on my blog post lately, but honestly the holiday season is the busiest time of year for me.  All the preparation and travelling in a short period of time is exhausting, but totally worth it!!!  I am so grateful and truly blessed to have such a wonderful family to share the holidays with.  I would love to host Christmas at my place, but fitting over 20 people in my little tiny condo just wouldn’t work.  Hopefully one day!  Since my family members didn’t get a chance to see my “Winter Wonderland” themed decor, I decided to quickly make a post to share with them AND of course with all you lovely readers out there.  Enjoy the tour! 🙂
I absolutely love flocked trees!  Once I bought mine, I knew right away I wanted a Winter Wonderland theme.  I went with black & white colours since my living room decor was already neutral and that way I didn’t have to change out my decorative pillows.

My coffee table decor was simple.  I found this sparkling bark tree at Walmart and the crystal candle sticks were gifted to me a few years back, but are from the Bombay Company.  Any kind of crystal decor reminders me of frozen ice, so these candle sticks really added to my theme.

I only added two things to my living room shelf… this fabulous marquee sign & a flocked garland with extra large pine cones.  With just two pieces, your shelf/mantel can be instantly festive, just like mine!  I did add stockings to the shelf after this picture was taken.  I went with a white faux fur stocking for myself and for Alex I bought a light grey velvet stocking with dark grey fur trimming.

For my ornaments, I mixed and matched black & whites with accents of silver & gold and threw in some pine cones to soften the look for a cozy modern tree.  Some of the bulb ornaments I DIY’d by taking a black sharpie to some of the white bulbs and drawing on patterns and writing cute quotes on them.

My chalkboard wall I used as an advent calendar!  It’s always fun doing a count down to the best day of the year.  Although, it’s not as good as eating a chocolate everyday, but now as I look at the picture, we should have had a bottle of wine a day… hahaha!  Ok, maybe just a glass a day!  Maybe next year 😉

Very easy and subtle Christmas decor in our entrance way.  I originally wanted green wreathes hanging on each picture frame, but saw this cute snowflake at Michaels Craft store and had to have it!  Doesn’t it fit perfectly with my theme!?!

Next year I would like to do more decor in my bedrooms.  My guest room I didn’t even touch, but the master bedroom got a little love with this lovely paper star I scored at Homesense for only $4.99!

This part of the couch became my favourite place to read a good book with a cup of tea.  I added lots of cozy blanket throws to keep warm as the temperature kept dropping over the month of December.  At one point I remembered it dropped to -16C!  BRRRRRRR!!!

Wrapping paper also plays a part in your decor.  I went simple and used brown paper packaging wrapped in twine with bells & mistletoe, which I found all at the dollar store!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and taking my mini Winter Wonderland tour!  It’s a little sad that I now have to take it all down.  It always feels so bare!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and wishing you lots of love & happiness in 2017!
